Integrative Re-Sources equips Valued Workplaces (socially driven organizations), Compassionate Practitioners (professional helpers, healers, educators), & community members with the education, tools, & support to prioritize mental wellbeing & quality of life
A Valued Workplace is a socially driven organization that recognizes the strategic & financial imperative of prioritizing mental wellbeing & quality of life of staff
When you have a Valued Workplace, you feel supported by your team & the leadership. You are united in shared values & organizational mission. You know exactly how you are demonstrating those values through daily work. Stress triggers from work are recognized, mitigated, or offer support for coping & adapting
When you are employed at a Valued Workplace, life's losses (e.g. divorces, serious illnesses or injuries, deaths) & accompanying grief are not ignored. Procedures & policies that support an individual's unique grieving process are in place. For example, it is common during grief for people to dive deeper into work as a distraction from life's losses, but studies indicate workload should be reduced, if possible, to aid in healing
When a Valued Workplace leads with compassion, there is a reduction in employee turnover, reduction in absenteeism, reduction in medical insurance expenditures, increased productivity, heightened morale, & greater customer satisfaction
Many workplaces promote compassion in their values or marketing. However, workplaces RARELY define compassion & expect staff to know how to apply compassion without training
Compassion is defined as looking beyond our own personal suffering, to see the suffering of another. In medical environments, a lack of compassion could mean the difference of life or death
Most workplaces agree that compassion should be in the workplace, but that it is one of those "uncomfortable, soft skills" that take too much time when time is money. On the contrary, leading with compassion in a Valued Workplace can take as little as 40 seconds & can provide up to 5x the financial return on this small investment. Micro-moments add up to big dollars

Compassion communicates competence
When staff are consumed with their own silo of work & experience stress, errors occur. When staff are overwhelmed with personal losses & grief, errors occur. When staff experience - & contribute to poor morale, errors occur. When staff are overworked, errors occur. When staff feel unheard, errors occur. When there is unpredictability or instability, errors occur. In high stakes, high stress work environments, stress occurs & staff get sick. When staff are stressed, customers know & take business elsewhere
Recovering from grief, stress, trauma, takes longer than the 1-day most workplaces allocate. Here are examples of compassion in action that Valued Workplaces have learned in our workshops:
Coordinated Care: When a young mother's child is stillborn, her colleagues establish a coordinated grief care team to help with her workload, provide comfort when grief episodes are triggered, & reduce the grieving mother's exposure to customers' infants
Code Purple: In medical environments, receiving the news of a serious illness diagnosis, serious injury prognosis, or death of a loved one is stressful & can be traumatic. Implementing Code Purple- a team-based approach that provides grief support, mental health safety checks, & compassion can dramatically improve health outcomes & patient loyalty
Compassionate Welfare Check: In academic settings, when students don't complete assignments, conduct a Compassionate Welfare Check before the end of the semester to offer support, guidance, & share mental wellbeing coping & adapting skills
Quick Quiz: Does your workplace have any of the following symptoms that necessitate a redesign towards mental wellbeing?
If you answered yes to two (2) or more of the above symptoms, we recommend you host a workshop to learn HOW to:
